Weekend festivals to explore in the Northwest

From bluegrass to lavender, Western Washington has something for everyone this weekend.

Downtown Summer Sounds

The 40-year tradition is back with free concerts in the heart of Seattle for workers, residents, and visitors. A wide variety of performers will play throughout several downtown venues like the waterfront and Pike Place market. The series will run through August 31st. Check the Downtown Seattle Association website for a full schedule of performers.

King County Fair

July 19-22

Thursday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Friday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m.- 10 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Pig races, carnival rides, live music, barrel racing, and so much more at the huge King County Fair taking place this weekend. Get your fair food fill at the Enumclaw Expo Center during the entire weekend. A separate camping area is available for those who want to get the most out of the fair.

31st Annual Seafair Pow-Wow

July 20-22

Friday: 4-10 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

This three-day celebration of Native American culture will take place at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center and span the entire weekend. Rain or shine, come for performances by native tribes, crafts and jewelry, and delicious food including frybread and a salmon bake.

White Center Jubilee Days

July 18-22

Wednesday: 3-11 p.m.

Thursday: 3-11 p.m.

Friday: 3-11 p.m.

Saturday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Sunday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Each day brings something new to this festival with a carnival, street fair, live music, and a parade. Local sponsors are putting on this community-oriented event with tons of family-friendly activities. See their website for a full list of activities at each event.

Sequim Lavender Festival

July 20-22

Friday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

A long-running Pacific Northwest favorite, the Sequim Lavender Festival puts a focus on local farms producing lavender as well as a variety of other agricultural goods. The vendor fair is full of handmade, one-of-a-kind art and household goods. Stick around for Lavenderstock, featuring live bands on the music stage.

Darrington Bluegrass Festival

July 20-22

Head out to Darrington for a stacked bluegrass lineup slated for the entire weekend. RV hookups and camping sports available for those who want to enjoy an entire weekend of bluegrass and take advantage of the "24-hour jammin' policy" at the campsites.
