PCC Community Markets announced Friday that it will open a new PCC market in Ballard.

Ballard's PCC will open in the spring of 2019 and will be located at 1451 N.W. 46th St., across the street from the Ballard Blocks.

The new Ballard PCC will be located adjacent to the "missing link" of the Burke-Gilman Trail, the city's largest commuter trail. It will include features of newer PCC Markets such as a Chop Shop and a PCC Taqueria. The store also will be the first PCC location to boast a rooftop deck with views of the surrounding area.

The 25,000 square-foot store will be sixth PCC Market in Seattle, and will precede the addition of a PCC in Madison Valley neighborhood and the re-opening of the West Seattle PCC in 2019.

The company says the Ballard store will create about 100 new union jobs.
