The evidence search continued over the weekend in the Manastash area where the remains of Lindsey Baum were discovered nearly nine years after her disappearance.

Lindsey Baum was just shy of her 11th birthday when she vanished from McCleary, Washington, in 2009. Her remains were discovered hundreds of miles away in Kittitas County in 2017 and identified earlier this month.

The search for evidence in the case continued in a remote area where her remains were recovered. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office is leading a multi-agency forensic search in the Manastash area, about 20 miles west of Ellensburg in steep, forested terrain.

Approximately 240 law enforcement officials and volunteers participated in the search, which spans roughly two square miles.

The Manastash recreation area was closed to the public during the weekend's search.

"We greatly appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience with the road and area closures. The preservation and discovery of evidence is of utmost importance in this case to increase the opportunity for a successful conclusion," Kittitas County Undersheriff Clay Myers said.

The sheriff's office is planning to provide an update on the search and closure this coming week.
