SEATTLE — A body was found in a car at a Seattle towing yard on Saturday morning, though police say no foul play is suspected.

Police responded to Lincoln Towing just before noon Saturday, according to Seattle Police Department (SPD) Public Information Officer Shawn Weismiller.

A body was found in the back seat of a car that had been impounded in May 2023. It appears the person had been living inside the vehicle, Weismiller said.

SPD’s Homicide Unit responded to investigate and police said there is no evidence of foul play.

The King County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and will determine the person’s cause and manner of death.

Police could not confirm the deceased person’s approximate age or gender, referring inquiries of those details to the medical examiner’s office.

According to Lincoln Towing’s website, the business holds car auctions at various locations, including Saturday car auctions at its location along Aurora Avenue. Police could not confirm if the car where the body was found had been purchased on Saturday, Jan. 6.
