One of the best places for millennials to work is in Seattle

Millennials want more out of their employer than a paycheck. One company stands out from the Seattle skyline, according to Forbes Magazine.

There are a lot of great places to work in Seattle, but Forbes Magazine ranked Slalom as one of the best places to work for millennials in 2018.

Slalom, a consulting company, was ranked 74 out of the top 100 best places to work by Forbes.

The $1.2 billion company describes itself as a purpose-driven consulting firm that helps companies solve problems and build for the future. According to Glassdoor, Slalom has 4.5 out of 5 stars with more than 200 employee reviews.

Though it has offices all across the country, Slalom's headquarters is in Seattle.

"I feel like millennial workplaces get categorized as having bean bag chairs and free food," laughed Laura Cindric, a Slalom consultant. "I think Slalom really tries to do is bring together our work and our life."

Slalom's general manager Kyle Kruse says they are building a multi-generational workplace so it not only appeals to people nearing retirement, but could become a place where the children of current employees want to work.

There are a lot of perks like free food, beer, napping, and wellness rooms, the perks are not what keeps an employee happy.

"We provide a lot of autonomy," Kruse said. "We provide an incredible organization where people can pursue their passions inside and out of work."

It's well-known that millennials believe corporate responsibility should be a top priority. That is why you might see Slalom hosting a hack-a-thon to create a solution for a social issue such as homelessness.

"I think work is changing," Cindric said. "Now we're seeing a blend where work and home aren't so different. It's really evolving and changing with the times to make it a great place for everybody."

Slalom offices nationwide employ more than 3,200 millennials, who make up about 60 percent of the company's workforce. Forbes Magazine reports that by 2025, 75 percent of the workforce will consist of millennials.
