Peanuts force recall of popular ice cream, cookies

Two popular treats in Washington and Oregon have been recalled due to concerns over undeclared peanuts.

Two tasty treats were recalled this week due to concerns over undeclared peanuts.

Salt & Straw Ice Cream recalled a percentage of its "Chocolate Gooey Brownie" ice cream pints. Marsee Baking recalled chocolate chip, ginger spices, and oatmeal raisin cookies. The cookies are sold at Cafe Yumm! restaurants.

"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned in the recall alerts.

In the case of both desserts, the food is safe to eat and should only cause concern to people who have a peanut allergy or sensitivity.

The cookies under recall were sold between Aug. 6-15, according to the FDA. The cookies do not bear any labels or identifying codes.

The Salt & Straw pints were believed to be sold in stores and online between July 17-Aug. 13. Recalled pints can be identified by labeling codes posted on the FDA website.

Salt & Straw Ice Cream has locations in Washington, Oregon and California. Cafe Yumm! has 11 Oregon locations and two in Washington.
