Teen severely injured in Amtrak derailment being transferred to Colorado

Timothy Brodigan was severely injured in December's Amtrak derailment and will be moved to Craig Hospital in Colorado where spinal cord specialists will treat him.

A 16-year-old still being treated for severe injuries from the Amtrak train derailment is being transported to Colorado for further treatment.

Timothy Brodigan is on his way to Craig Hospital in Denver where spinal cord specialists are waiting to receive him and begin working on serious spinal cord injuries he sustained in the December crash.

"It’s been a brutal five weeks," said Timothy's father, Michael Brodigan.

Brodigan is the only individual to still be hospitalized after December's train derailment. He was treated at Tacoma General Hospital and moves to Craig Hospital to work with its renowned group of spinal cord surgeons.

"What has stood out is the support we have got from our family, the community, people we don't know, the nurses and doctors at Tacoma general and the generosity of people. The Seahawks and the Mariners. Everybody has reached out to Timmy with their prayers and well wishes. It's been wonderful," said Michael Brodigan.
