Where to escape the smoke around Seattle, Puget Sound

The air around Puget Sound remains unhealthy for everyone, but there are dozens of places you can go to escape the smoke before air quality improves.
Visibility has been low in Seattle due to the wildfire smoke blowing in from the fires in surrounding areas. (KING 5)

It’s usually around this time of year when people are trying to escape the heat. But around Puget Sound we’re trying to escape the smoke.

The City of Seattle is now promoting its cooling centers as places to get indoors for cleaner air.

Here are the places you can go within city limits:

Though no location is being promoted specifically as a place to escape the smoke, a spokesperson with the Snohomish Health District points out that the following locations are regularly open to the public:

The air remains unhealthy for everyone. An Air Quality Alert remains in effect until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Air quality should start improving Thursday.
