John Schneider becomes winningest GM in Seahawks history

The current Seahawks general manager is the most successful in the team's history.

Monday night’s crucial 21-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings not only pushed the Seattle Seahawks to the brink of a playoff spot, it was also a milestone victory for general manager John Schneider.

“Also, I’m proud to say that John Schneider is the all-time winningest General Manager (for the Seahawks),” coach Pete Carroll commented in his postgame press conference. “So, I think that should be really the focus. I know some people want to talk about that stuff, but I think it’s really cool that John’s the winningest GM in the history of the franchise, so we’re pretty fired up about that.”

Schneider took over as Seattle’s GM in 2009, and has lead the team to an 87-53 record and six playoff appearances, with a seventh all but locked up. The team has also made two Super Bowl appearances in his tenure, including their first Super Bowl victory in 2013.

In what he dubbed a “reset” year, Schneider has built a team that has a chance to do some serious damage in January with the way they are currently meshing.

They’ll have a chance to clinch a playoff spot, and extend Schneider’s record, on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers
