A crash that killed one person blocked all lanes of southbound I-5 south of Mount Vernon in Skagit County for hours Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. and involved eight vehicles, including one box truck, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman.
Four to five other people have non-life threatening injuries, according to Axtman.
The crash occurred when the box truck failed to stop, rear-ending a van and hitting several other vehicles stopped in traffic, Axtman said. The driver of the van died.
The other injuries are considered non-life threatening at this time.
The freeway reopened around 11:30 a.m.
