SEATTLE — It's a time actor Caden Brauch has been looking forward to for quite a while.

"Since the beginning, I was like, 'and then at Christmas we play Seattle!'"

Brauch plays Marty McFly in the national touring production of, "Back to the Future: The Musical." His dreams of becoming a Broadway star began growing up in Bothell.

"I grew up doing stuff at the Fifth Avenue, just downtown, and Village Theater in Issaquah as well," said Brauch. "I learned a lot from that, I didn't really realize until later on how special that was."

His journey to playing Marty McFly began three years ago when he re-watched the 1985 movie during the pandemic.

"I just remember leaving and just being like, 'God, that's just the best movie,'" Brauch said.

Soon after seeing the movie, he found himself auditioning for the musical.

"I was going in there with the mindset of, 'I am gonna get this part and I'll deal with the repercussions of not getting the part later,'" he said.

He got the part. Now he gets to put his own spin on the beloved character in a show packed with nostalgia and a few surprises.

"It's got all the moments that you know and love from the movie, in the musical, and plus a lot of extras," said Brauch. "There's new jokes and things throughout that I really like, because it's fun to be able to put my own spin on things and stuff."

For Brauch, performing at the Paramount is a full-circle experience.

"Seeing my face up on the marquee, I was like, 'Whoa, that's insane,' because I grew up seeing shows at the Paramount,” said Brauch. “Having friends and family come to see the show is really exciting."

Caden Brauch can't believe his face is on the marquee of the Paramount Theatre where he used to watch shows growing up in Bothell.

A musical and a homecoming -  Caden Brauch hopes people who see the show will enjoy the ride, back in time.

"I hope people just leave with a lot of joy in their hearts and just that feel-good energy that we all need, Brauch said. "It's really a joy and an honor to be the one to kind of provide that."

"Back to the Future: The Musical," is playing at Seattle's Paramount Theatre till December 22.
