The Dummy Downhill is a no-brainer

At the Dummy Downhill things fall to pieces fast.

Mission Ridge, Wash. - They arrive ready to hit the slopes in a stiff competition that's literally a no-brainer.

It's the annual Dummy Downhill at Mission Ridge in central Washington.

"We make dummies and throw them down a hill," said one competitor.

The only requirement for the race: be non-human and weigh no more than 100 pounds. Other than that, anything goes.

Past entries include an angry bird, a flying saucer and 'Skichiro'.

In competition the homemade dummies race down a ski run and then fly off a jump. At least that's the idea, but things go to pieces fast. Most of the entries fall apart and crash upon impact.

The longest jump wins a season ski pass at Mission Ridge. The 2016 Dummy Downhill is Saturday, March 19th. There are a variety of categories and prizes to be awarded. For details and rules, click here.
