ARLINGTON, Wash. - Dozens of Christmas Trees were recycled the old fashioned way in Arlington on Saturday.
Trees were taken to an animal rescue for goats to munch on.
People think that's the coolest thing to recycle their trees by feeding them to goats, said Ellen Felsenthal, owner of New Moon FarmGoat Rescue and Sanctuary.
New Moon takes in unwanted goats that are surrendered by owners, and also takes in goats taken by animal control.
In 2009, New Moon took in 131 goats and found homes for 118 of them.
Last summer, 14 goats came in through an animal control seizure.
They were all emaciated, had hoof rot, four had to be carried to the truck because they couldn't walk, said Felsenthal.
After they were nursed back to health, all of the goats were adopted.
One woman adopted the two moms and two babies, said Felsenthal.
Now, said Felsenthal, They're happy and healthy and fat.
The farm currently has 38 goats looking for homes.
This time of years there are a lot of critters hanging around waiting for their family to appear, said Felsenthal.
