A Seattle City Light crew is heading to Northern California to help the area recover from wildfires.
Nineteen workers packed up their trucks and hit the road around 2 a.m. Friday morning. Bernie Ziemiak with Seattle City Light said thousands of power poles were burned in the wildfires.
“Most of everything that was lost down there was due to fires,” Ziemiak said.
The workers will help install new poles and rebuild and install distribution lights.
“This is big. It’s not all the time that you’re called in to do something like this. It’s sort of an honor and a pride to be called to offer services to others,” Ziemiak said.
