Allegations of hazing are being investigated at a University of Washington fraternity.

KING5 News has learned Beta Theta Pi's chapter has been suspended indefinitely as a result of the allegations.

A spokesman for the University of Washington's Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, James Ehrmann, says the allegations came to light last week and an investigation was immediately launched.

"Until that time, all chapter activities of the Beta Theta Pi chapter are suspended," Ehrmann said.

Representatives from the national Beta Theta Pi fraternity are in Seattle to investigate the allegations as well.

"In light of recent allegations related to our chapter at the University of Washington, our General Fraternity has suspended the chapter's operations indefinitely and launched an investigation to determine the facts of the case," said Martin Cobb, Beta Theta Pi spokesman. "Accountability at all levels of the organization will be exercised if hazing allegations of any form are proven to be true. "

The fraternity was also disciplined over a hazing incident in 2004.

Beta Theta Pi has been a fraternity on the UW campus since 1901.

The university says the chapter is "frozen," and is prohibited from holding any parties or participating in homecoming or any other Greek or university function.
