Woodland Park Zoo’s 15-week-old sloth bears officially have names: Deemak and Kartick.

Deemak means termite in Hindi, and Kartick is named after Kartick Satyanarayan, the cofounder of Wildlife SOS, which is a zoo conservation partner.

The male cubs were born December 27, 2017 to 13-year-old mom Tasha and 17-year-old dad Bhutan.

Deemak and Kartick have been spending more time out on exhibit with Tasha, but the viewing schedule will be irregular until they adjust to the outdoor enclosure, according to the zoo.

“The cubs are becoming more confident in the exploration of their outdoor environment but still seek the security of their maternity den when they need to rest,” Martin Ramirez, Woodland Park Zoo mammal curator, said in a release.

New video shows the cubs exploring the exhibit with Tasha, climbing over a downed log and rock clusters.

There are fewer than 10,000 sloth bears remaining in the wild. The bears are found in the lower elevations of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
