SEATTLE — It was a rough Thanksgiving evening for Seahawks fans. The offense struggled, resulting in a 31-13 loss against the 49ers. Terry Hollimon described the game as a green Jell-O salad at Thanksgiving dinner.
“Something just completely unappetizing that’s left after Thanksgiving dinner is over,” he said. “It’s still there. Nobody touched it. That’s the game that we saw last week versus the 49ers.”
Quarterback Geno Smith was coming off a bruised elbow injury in the loss to the Rams. He threw an interception and was unable to lead any touchdown drives for the offense against the 49ers. The Seahawks have scored no offensive touchdowns in seven quarters.
“They couldn’t put anything together outside of the first drive of the game and things just continued to avalanche and go downhill for him,” Hollimon said.
Linebacker Jordyn Brooks had the lone touchdown of the day for the Seahawks with a pick six. He also recorded 12 tackles.
“We need these guys to do more of that because the offense isn’t putting the points on the board,” Hollimon said.
With the offense struggling and Brooks being the only player to see the end zone, he was Hollimon’s player of the game.
“If I had to pick one out of this green Jell-O mold of a game we had, it would have to be Jordyn Brooks.”
After some uncharacteristic mistakes, like a DeeJay Dallas muffed punt and penalties, the Seahawks will look to bounce back against the 8-3 Cowboys on Thursday night. Dallas hasn’t lost a game at home in 13 consecutive games, and star outside linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Dak Prescott will be hoping to lead the team to nine wins on the season.
“If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, and we’re on a stretch where we’ve got to beat the best,” Hollimon said.
