Viont'E Daniels has been busy the last two months.
In March, the senior guard led the Federal Way basketball team to the 4A state championship while being named tournament MVP. He played in the WIBCA all-star game later in the month and was also named the Washington AP Player of The Year in 4A.
Somewhere in between, he heard for Washington State men's basketball coach Ernie Kent, who offered Daniels a scholarship.
He jumped on the opportunity immediately and made it official Wednesday, signing his letter of intent.
"I took it right away," Daniels said of the WSU offer. "I knew it was the right place for me."
Daniels also considered Portland State and Saint Mary's before receiving his WSU offer.
Prior to Federal Way's season, senior guard Malik Montoya – a Seattle U commit – tore his ACL, forcing him to miss the entire season. Montoya's absence opened the door for Daniels to lead the Eagles and he took advantage of the opportunity.
Now, he's accomplished something he set out to do four years ago.
"I remember I was a freshman watching other people sign and I said 'I want that to be me one day'," Daniels said. "It's finally here so man, I'm just happy."
Daniels' offer from WSU came just three weeks ago so he hasn't had a chance to go to Pullman yet, but moves there on June 25.
"I'm ready to get there and go to work," he said.
