Pacific Northwest athletes are competing in the US Olympic swimming trials

PORTLAND, Ore. — The 2024 U.S. Olympic swimming trials are underway, and several athletes from the Pacific Northwest are vying for a spot on Team USA for Paris. The trials will be held through Sunday, June 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kaitlyn Dobler: women's 100-meter breaststroke

Portland native Kaitlyn Dobler, who swam for Aloha High School before committing to USC, competed in the women's 100-meter breaststroke final Monday night. Dobler came in fourth with a time of 1:06.77. 

She placed ninth in the semifinals of the women's 200-meter breaststroke Wednesday night.

Dobler was seeded sixth in the 200-meter breaststroke. She recently became a four-time champion in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Pac-12 Championships. She has also won the Pac-12 200-meter three times. She represents The Dolphins Portland Swimming.

Drew Eubanks: men's 200-meter breaststroke

Oregon native Drew Eubanks competed in the men's 200-meter breaststroke preliminary heat on Tuesday. Eubanks finished with a time of 2:17.96 and did not advance to the finals.

Eubanks is a junior at Adrienne C. Nelson High School in Happy Valley. He won the state title in the 100-meter breaststroke. He also earned All-American honors for his performance in the 100-yard breaststroke. Eubanks also represents The Dolphins Portland Swimming.

Daniel Roy: men's 200-meter breaststroke

Daniel Roy from Spokane, Wash., also raced with Eubanks in the men's 200-meter breaststroke, and he did make it through. Roy moved on to semifinals with a time of 2:09.57. He placed fifth in the finals Wednesday night.

The former Stanford swimmer already competed in the Olympic trials in the men's 100-meter breaststroke but did not make it to the final.

Roy is a five-time All-American in the 200-meter breaststroke and the 400-meter medley relay, and he owns Stanford's record in the 200-meter breaststroke (1:51:07). He also swims for The Dolphins Portland Swimming.
