A portion of Highway 18 east of I-5 was closed Tuesday afternoon due to a multi-vehicle fire.
The fire started following a crash between a semi-truck and pickup truck in the eastbound lanes, according to state patrol.
All lanes closed around 1:30 p.m. All lanes were back open around 3:50 p.m.
All vehicle occupants are safe with non-life threatening injuries, according to South King Fire.
Firefighters said crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and make sure it did not spread to the grass along the highway.
"What we tried to do was establish a quick attack on the vehicles and try to prevent it from spreading into the wildlands that you can see behind me there," said Captain Brad Chaney with South King Fire and Rescue. "Our main strategy initially was to prevent the spread into the bushes and prevent some sort of wildfire."
