Ryan Takeo is an award-winning journalist who joined the Home Team in July 2015.
Ryan grew up in Covina, CA, in the Los Angeles-area. His love of storytelling grew out of listening to Los Angeles Dodgers' broadcaster Vin Scully.
Ryan is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
His television career started at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There he won the award for Associated Press Reporter of the Year.
Ryan moved back to the West Coast to work for KPIX in San Francisco. There he covered national and international stories like the Asiana plane crash, the 6.0 Napa earthquake, and a bizarre kidnapping in Vallejo.
Ryan is grateful to tell meaningful stories in the Pacific Northwest. He's always dreamed of being a part of the KING 5 newsroom.
He lives in Seattle with his wife, Abby, and cat, Luna.
