Western Washington Weather Forecast

Mix of a few showers and sunbreaks for the weekend. Drying midweek next week.

SEATTLE — Puget Sound Extended Forecast

Saturday-Sunday: Partly sunny with a chance of a few showers. Lows in the upper 30s and 40s. Highs in the lower 50s.

Monday: Increasing rain. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the lower to mid 50s.

Tuesday: Morning showers turning partly sunny in the afternoon. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the lower to mid 50s.

Wednesday-Thursday: Mostly dry and partly to mostly sunny. Lows in the 40s. Highs in the lower to mid 50s.

Discussion:

Showers will still be around early on Saturday, but they should decrease to just a few showers mixed with some sun as a broad ridge of high pressure in the Gulf of Alaska moves closer to the coast.

A stronger system moves over the high-pressure Monday and spreads steady rain into western Washington during the day. The rain should turn to off and on showers later Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday the high pressure in the Gulf of Alaska will move close enough to the coast to end the showers in the morning with clearing in the afternoon. Right now, it looks like we might see a couple of dry days for Wednesday and Thursday of next week with temps in the mid 50s. .

Daylight saving time comes to an end at 2 a.m. on Sunday. We "fall back" to standard time. While sunset falls back to before 5 p.m., we gain an extra hour of sleep.

Also, when the clocks change, it's a good time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Seattle's sunrise Sunday morning will be at 6:57 a.m. and sunset time will be at 4:47 p.m.
