I am absolutely thrilled to be able to call western Washington my home! I am truly honored to be a part of the news team and the journalistic legacy here at KING 5! I joined the station as an anchor and reporter in March 2021.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, where much of my family still lives. Once I left my hometown, I lived in numerous cities in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. After spending the first 40 years of my life in the desert Southwest, I am so glad to be in the Pacific Northwest.
My career in broadcast journalism began in 2005. Over the years, I’ve worked in both radio and television. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of some award-winning newsrooms and I’ve been able to win some awards of my own, including a Rocky Mountain EMMY for a series of stories about New Mexico called “Send Steve Where,” and a Lone Star EMMY for my work along the U.S./Mexico border.
I’ve also dabbled as an actor in various film and television productions, including "El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie" and "Army of the Dead."
I’m the father of three amazing boys and am married to a very patient woman. When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my family, running errands and trying to make it to the gym.
I leave you with these thoughts that are paramount to me. They became even more important during the pandemic. Don’t waste your energy on what doesn’t matter. Live your life to its fullest. Love like there’s no tomorrow. Be present for every single moment.
If you’d like to reach out to me, send an email to ssoliz@king5.com or find me on social media. You can send me story tips, restaurant recommendations or a great joke. I’ll take them all.
