Former Supersonic Nate McMillan will be honored at the Seattle SuperHawks 7 p.m. game Saturday, May 18, at Seattle Pacific University.

SEATTLE — With an incredible career spanning decades as a basketball player and coach, Nate McMillan is still making moves.

All eyes are on McMillan, most recently head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, as he is close to announcing his next step.

The 12-season Seattle Supersonic star nicknamed "Mr. Sonic," is going to be the guest of honor at the Seattle SuperHawks home game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Seattle Pacific University.

Ahead of what is expected to be "new franchise announcements" by the NBA this year - McMillan said the SuperHawks put the city in a solid position with talent playing locally.

SuperHawks co-owners Pierre Crockrell and  Jacqueline Yang said several players have already moved on to other developmental leagues and at least one player will have an NBA tryout this year. The SuperHawks are only in their second season in The Basketball League(TBL).

McMillan said he is excited to see the team play and see many old friends with his return to the Emerald City Saturday.

His career has taken him to great heights playing at North Caroline State and with the SuperSonics, but also as an NBA coach and Team USA coach. However, one of his greatest accomplishments lies in daily work done with the Nate McMillan Foundation based in his home state of North Carolina.

The foundation supports fatherless youth by providing mentorship through a variety of programs. Growing up without a father figure - McMillan said his older brother took on that role and provided him guidance. To learn more about the foundation, click here.

The SuperHawks have been welcoming SuperSonics stars back to Seattle for honorary game nights, including Gary Payton. Here's a look at that game night:
