SEATTLE — A Mountlake Terrace High School graduate and Seattle local were nominated Wednesday for Emmy awards.
Lily Gladstone, a graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, was nominated for supporting actress in a limited or anthology series for her role in "Under the Bridge," a true-crime miniseries based upon the book of the same name.
Gladstone will be competing with Dakota Fanning ("Ripley"), Jessica Gunning ("Baby Reindeer"), Aja Naomi King (“Lessons in Chemistry"), Diane Lane ("Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”), Nava Mau (“Baby Reindeer”) and Kali Reis ("True Detective: Night Country”) for the Emmy.
Earlier this year, Gladstone became the Golden Globes' first Indigenous winner of Best Actress in a drama. Gladstone, who played Mollie Burkhart in "Killers of the Flower Moon," was also nominated for best actress at this year's Oscars, but she lost the prestigious award to Emma Stone ("Poor Things").
Jean Smart earned an Emmy nomination for actress in a comedy series for her role in "Hacks," a comedy-drama series that features a bond between a legendary Las Vegas comic and a comedy writer in their 20s. Smart was born in raised in Seattle, graduating from Ballard High School before receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington.
Smart will be pitted against Quinta Brunson ("Abbott Elementary"), Ayo Edebiri ("The Bear"), Selena Gomez (“Only Murders in the Building"), Maya Rudolph ("Loot”) and Kristin Wiig (“Palm Royale”) for the Emmy.
This year's nominations come just six months after the last Emmys, which were delayed by the Hollywood strikes.
Here is a list of the top nominees for the 76th Primetime Emmy awards. The ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 15.
