Seahawk Jon Ryan competes on American Ninja Warrior

The punter won the Super Bowl. Now he hopes to win American Ninja Warrior on NBC.
Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan proves his athleticism on American Ninja Warrior.

SEATTLE - The Seattle Seahawks have a Legion of Boom, a Beast, and now, a ninja.

Jon Ryan is the punter for the Hawks.

He may be most recognized for surprising the Green Bay Packers - and the world - when he became the first punter in NFL postseason history to throw a touchdown pass during the 2015 NFC Championship game.

Now, the Super Bowl victor also wants to win American Ninja Warrior.

"I was just a fan of the show and that's why I wanted to do it," Ryan said. "Then when I kind of got into it and trained a little bit, the competitive juices got going. I was training for American Ninja Warrior and I put a couple pictures up on my Twitter account and the next day, I randomly got drug tested. Thought that was pretty interesting, kind of funny."

His chisled physique may also surprise viewers. Ryan says he wants punters to be recognized for their athleticism.

Teammates Jermaine Kearse and Derrick Coleman were on the Ninja Warrior sidelines to watch him compete, and possibly surprise the world all over again.

Viewers can see Ryan's run when American Ninja Warrior premieres on KING TV Monday, May 25 at 8 pm.
