SEATTLE — The event is a sure sign spring is just around the corner. The 35th annual Northwest Flower & Garden Festival at the Seattle Convention Center kicked off on Wednesday.
Whether you were born with a green thumb or you're a nervous houseplant parent, there's something here for you. This is the second largest show of its kind in the country with more than 30-thousand square feet to explore. You'll find shopping, workshops and plenty of seminars here over the next 4 days.
In the Show Garden, you’ll find over 20 dazzling, full-size displays that were completed in less than 72 hours. One of the coolest elements here is the hydrangeas. There are hundreds here, including the debut of a brand-new variety called the "Eclipse Bigleaf Hydrangea" created by First Editions Shrubs & Trees. It has dark leaves that stay dark, season after season.
This year’s Plant Market is the festival’s largest one ever. Attendees can walk through and pick from a massive range of plants - from simple succulents to huge house plants. There are also gardening experts here for tips and recommendations.
The festival runs until Sunday, Feb. 18. You can purchase tickets in advance at the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival website.
