SEATTLE — Whether you like history, racing, or cruising with your four-legged friends, the Seattle Boat Show has an exhibitor that fits your interests.
There are 300 exhibitors and more than 800 boats on display, including Conny – a historic vessel named for the University of Washington’s legendary rowing coach Hiram Conibear.
She was built in 1932 for the crew team and may look familiar to audiences who saw George Clooney’s film “The Boys in the Boat,” because a replica was made and used during filming.
Conny is on display inside the "Antique and Classic Yacht Society" display inside Lumen Field Event Center through Saturday.
Hydroplane enthusiasts can test their abilities in the "Pedal Boat Cup." Visitors can climb into pedal boats (retrofitted with wheels) and go for the fastest time around a 200-foot race course.
Human-powered boats are a bit quieter than hydros, but the competition is no less fierce. Prizes include Seafair tickets and pit passes. Races are happening every day of the boat show.
On Thursday, pet owners can bring their dogs to the boat show for free. “Dogs on Deck Day” has several special options, including pictures in the photo booth, custom dog tags, and a chance to meet celebrity canine Eba the Whale Dog.
The Seattle Boat Show takes place at both Lumen Field Event Center and Bell Harbor Marina, and one ticket ensures entry to both locations. The show opens at 10 a.m. daily and runs through Saturday, February 10. Tickets start at $20.
