SEATTLE — Pioneer Square is one of Seattle's oldest neighborhoods and there's a new kid on the block paying tribute to its storied past.
SOMI stands for South of Mill. Mill Street was the original name of Yesler Way which runs through Pioneer Square. It was also Seattle's Skid Road where logs were sent down to the sawmills.
The restaurant space has been redesigned to create a cozy neighborhood bistro, but there are touches from the building's past. The hardwood floors are original and date back to the 1880s.
SOMI offers lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. There's also a smash burger menu that pops-up daily from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. One item not to be missed is the deviled eggs. The restaurant puts a delicious twist on this classic dish with a rotating list of toppings. The plate is enough to share, but we won't judge if you finish them all yourself.
SOMI is located at 209 First Avenue South in Seattle. It's open Wednesday through Sunday.
