SEATTLE — Drama, food, and fun all take take center stage at Emerald City Trapeze in the immersive experience called "Venus and the Vixens."
"It's an interactive rock musical based on the myth of Cupid and Psyche," said Director Martha Enson.
The show was dreamed up by Enson, who co-founded the Vashon-based team EnJoy Productions with her husband and creative partner, Kevin Joyce.
"And she said, 'We have to create something that's full of play,'" Joyce said.
"Venus and the Vixens" takes guests on a romantic musical journey with plenty of plot twists along the way.
"It's also about a jealous mom, which is funny," Joyce said.
The audience becomes part of the action by interacting with the cast and engaging in good old-fashioned playtime.
"We never do that as adults," Enson said. "It's so rare. So, we wanted to create a situation where we could get people playing together in a really no-danger, risk-free, have-a-good-time, fun environment."
The cast consists of a wide range of top local talent.
"People who I know from Teatro ZinZanni," Enson said. "Many of them are people that I know from the Seattle burlesque scene, or the Seattle physical theater scene. So, it's a big, eclectic mix, but they're all 'show' people."
And they're all waiting to put on a show for you.
"Venus and the Vixens" opens Thursday, May 30 and runs through June 16. Tickets are still available for some shows.
