Duke's Seafood on Alki serves sustainable dishes and great views

The restaurant recently reopened after a frozen pipe burst flooding the building. #k5evening

SEATTLE — Duke's Seafood has been a staple of the Seattle restaurant scene for nearly 50 years, and it only takes one visit to understand its longevity.

The family-owned restaurant got its start in 1977 and now operates seven locations around Puget Sound. Duke's is known for it's award-winning chowders, Dungeness crab cakes and signature wild salmon dishes. The chefs use locally-sourced ingredients and all the seafood is 100% sustainable.

At the West Seattle location, customers can enjoy breathtaking views of Alki Beach and Elliott Bay. And if the sun is out, make sure to grab a seat on the deck that overlooks the water.

While summer is a great time to stop by, if you eat at Duke's on Alki during the next week, you'll get free fish tacos with your meal! It's part of a promotion thanking the community for their support following a recent disaster. During a cold snap in January, a frozen pipe burst flooding the building. The restaurant was closed for six weeks and underwent significant renovations.

"The outpouring of support from the community has been unbelievable," said co-owner John Moscrip. "We've been in this community for over 20 years and we're just so excited to be here."

The promotion runs through Thursday, April 4. Customers can get a free fish taco with the purchase of any other entrée. You can choose from either the Rockin Rockfish Taco or the Blackened "Unforgettable" Sea Cod Taco.

Duke's on Alki is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. It's located at 2516 Alki Avenue SW in West Seattle.
