SEATTLE -- When Luly Yang's butterfly gown first floated down the runway, her fashion career took flight. More than a decade later the dress still give her wings.

"For me right now, it's the feeling of the butterfly," said Yang. "And the inspiration from the Monarch colors."

Yang's latest collection called "The Butterfly Effect" celebrates a first in her career.

Best known for designing couture, one of a kind gowns and wedding dresses for the past 14 years, Yang is now entering the world of ready-to-wear.

Yang Explained, "The difference is couture is designed for one person. While ready-to-wear is I'm designing for many woman at once and I have to think about how do I make a garment fit ten different bodies, ten different personalities. It's a challenge to do that."

The debut of Yang's limited edition ready-to-wear and the launch of her new e-boutique attracted the best-dressed to downtown Seattle. But, they didn't arrive expecting a first-look at what's trending or what colors are in this season because that's just not Yang's style.

"Well, for me colors come from within. I still don't believe people should follow trends because I still believe it still comes from inside," said Yang.

And, for Yang, what starts on the inside as a flutter evolves into something beautiful, just like a butterfly.

"I have a new color of mauve and black together. And I call that the 'monarch by night' because it's how our eye would see color if the lights were turned down," said Yang. "But, I think that there is this universal understanding that women want to feel beautiful, they want a garment to fit, they want it to feel beautiful and transition with them as they change and as they grow."
