DES MOINES, Wash. — They say a person's home is their castle. But just south of Seattle in Des Moines, a castle can be your home.
"We are at the Redondo Castle, built in 1934. It has always just been known as the Redondo Castle," said Anjie Hall, co-listing agent with Windermere Real Estate. "When we look in the books of history, it looks like the Mosques of Cordoba were a huge inspiration for it."
Stepping inside this 6,500 square foot home you know right away there's nothing else like it.
"You walk in the place and you are greeted by the original tile work, which I can't even imagine or have seen replicated today," said Hall. "You have just the quintessential west-facing Puget Sound, the world traveling freighters, lots of sea life that come by," said Hall.
Blake Cantrell's grandmother owned the home for 35 years. He wishes the new owners will cherish the place as much as his family has.
"I hope somebody who will appreciate it just as much as we all have, someone who will really appreciate the esthetic and the craftsmanship and the workmanship that went into building a place like this that's been around for almost 100 years," said Cantrell.
Old-world craftsmanship on the shores of the sound - the next owner of Redondo Castle will truly feel like royalty.
"Who doesn't want to live in a castle?" laughs Hill.
The Redondo Castle is on the market for 3.9 million dollars.
