Searching for a new project to fill your quarantine hours?
Try making a custom scented candle from Elm Candle Bar on Capitol Hill.
The family-owned shop is selling kits in their online store.
"About five years ago I went to Paris and I mixed scents together to make perfume, and I loved the experience," said owner Erin Page. "I wanted to blend something that would actually be accessible to everybody."
Similar to the in-store experience, customers can personally select every element of their kit, including the jars, lids, and scents (and there are 90 scents to choose from!)
Home candle kits come in two or four-packs and start at $60.
Before the stay-at-home orders were in place, Team Evening took a trip to the storefront and made their own candles - with some surprising results!
Scent specialist Michelle Salomon said their customized candles revealed:
* Angela has a "calm and soothing personality."
* Kim is "always up for trying new things."
* Jim has a "warm and inviting personality."
* Saint is "refined and clean."
