SILVERDALE, Wash. — Erika Altemose can't tell us exactly where she gets these designer duds, but the name of her store, Texas Glad Rags, is a bit of a giveaway. "We are very blessed to have these gorgeous clothes from wealthy Texas women. Very blessed', she says.
This store, hidden away in a Silverdale strip mall sells gently used, and brand new high-end clothes. It's a go-to glam stop for rural women like Mikey McGuire, a construction worker with an eye on a career in law enforcement. "I'll have my Prada purse with my glock and stuff. I owned a lot of Carharts and stuff like that, but also have a chance at some high end designer stuff at a reasonable price, its fabulous."
We talked with some regulars who name-dropped designers like Brian Atwood, Christian Louboutin, DKNY, Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, and Robert Cavalli.
At Texas Glad Rags, the hunt is part of the fun, whether it yields a thirty dollar Diane Von Furstenberg, or a vintage Coach bag. People make the two hour trip from the Seattle area to shop here. Especially when a new shipment comes in, which is twice a month.
For Erika, it's the perfect combination of fashion and friends, "I just love the people. I love the clothes, I love to dress my customers, I love when they leave here happy... they always get compliments and I love to hear that. I love making women happy."
