Dinner for one? Chef Tom Douglas shares a recipe for when you're eating solo

Look at the bright side, you don't have to share. #k5evening

SEATTLE — It's easier to cook for two or more people, but what if you're making dinner for one? Chef Tom Douglas has a recipe for those eating solo. He joined us from the Hot Stove Society kitchen.

Steak and Baker with Chard for One

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bunch Ruby Chard
  • 1 Yukon Gold Potato
  • 10 oz Steak of Your Choice, we used Mishima Top Round
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Directions:

•    Heat oven to 325. Bake a potato for one hour or until tender.

•    Separate leaves from stems of the chard and chop stems small. Sautee stems in olive oil over medium heat until tender, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and chard leaves to the pan and sauté. Once wilted, squeeze lemon over top and remove from heat.

•    Season steak with your favorite seasoning. Sear steak in butter and oil over medium-high heat, flip and remove from heat when your desired temperature is reached. Let steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

•    Plate up with greens and potato, slice steak, and pour the seasoned butter that you cooked your steak in over top. Enjoy!

If you cook with Swiss Chard, Tom says you can eat the steams too if you cook it long enough
