Evening Raves: Cape Flattery, 'Everything Music' and local concerts

Evening hosts rave about their recent obsessions including local hikes, music analysis and local concerts. #k5evening

SEATTLE —

I'm going to kick things off with a rave about the Northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States. They say flattery gets you nowhere, but when you’re visiting Cape Flattery, you really are somewhere. It’s especially dramatic on a stormy day. Located out on the Olympic Peninsula and managed by the Makah Tribe who charge for parking, the trailhead to these vistas is fairly accessible. The payoff for that rainy day hike is unforgettable.

I have recently fallen down the YouTube rabbit hole, watching tons of clips from a man that they call “The world’s best-loved music nerd.” He’s a musician and a producer, but mostly he’s just a fan of classical and current music. His channel is called "Everything Music," it basically goes in depth about what makes a great song with plenty of geeky analysis of composing and interviews with everyone you can imagine from Sting to Krist Novoselic.

My rave is checking out live performances from local bands. It’s more intimate, the tickets are cheaper and it’s like my own discovery of new music. Right now, the one artist that I’m really into is Star Anna, her voice is amazing.
