Evening Raves: Day In Day Out festival, B's Burgers and 'The Demon of Unrest'

Evening hosts rave about their recent obsessions including Seattle festivals, local restaurants and new books. #k5evening

SEATTLE —

Jim:

I would like to “Hey Ho!” for the Day In Day Out festival, a fairly new festival at Seattle Center. What I liked about it is that it’s manageably sized. I don’t like to have to battle the crowds, and this had really great acts. We saw Bleachers, Suki Waterhouse and The Head and the Heart played there. It was a really fun, laidback festival and I look forward to going back next year.

Kim:

I would like to rave about my favorite smash burger place in all the land, that closed but is now reopening – Burb’s Burgers. They’ve rebranded as B’s Burgers, but they're back and when I tell you that these are the tastiest smash burgers in Seattle I'm not telling a lie.

Saint:

My rave is for “The Demon of Unrest.” If you are a history buff as I am then you will enjoy this book by Erik Larson, who used to live right here in Seattle. It covers the five months between the election of Abraham Lincoln and the first shot of the Civil War with the attack on Fort Sumpter in Charleston Harbor. It’s a major moment in history when Americans decided killing other Americans for the right cause is acceptable. As someone who has lived in Charleston, this book is especially fascinating for me.
