SEATTLE — It's a one-of-a-kind experience, full of countless ways to have fun. Argosy Cruises' Tillicum Excursion is a four-hour adventure to Blake Island State Park. It launches from the Seattle waterfront Wednesday through Saturday late spring and summer until late August (Friday/Saturday trips available after that).
Once you arrive, you can enjoy fresh clams, and partake in the "Clam Dance." It's a process of stomping on the leftover shells, which traditionally brings you good luck. There's also a Northwest-flavors inspired buffet, which features traditional alder fire roasted steelhead.
You'll also get a taste of Northwest Native American culture through a storytelling performance.
After the show, you get a chance to choose your own adventure. You can walk along the island's beaches and hiking trails, and enjoy peek-a-boo views of Seattle.
Even if you've been before, Argosy's new boat, The Salish Explorer, will definitely make it worth a second trip.
"It's really powerful," said Captain Greg Kramer. "Even though it's our biggest it's also one of our fastest."
There are panoramic windows inside the cabins, 360 degree views outside, and an elevated observation platform.
"No matter where you sit on the boat, you're going to have a great view," said Kramer.
You can book the Tillicum Excursion online. The season runs now through September.
