CHELAN, Wash. — When you hop on with Chelan Electric Bikes, you are in for a treat that may be even better than the wine you're about to taste.
"Everyone is like a little kid, and everyone automatically smiles as soon as they get on the bike," said founder Merick Hill. "And they're not sweating. We've been riding up hills and riding into headwinds and it doesn't matter because the bikes are electric"
The tour starts in downtown Chelan and typically goes around 10 miles around the lake to various tasting rooms. And Hill says it's more than a wine tour.
"It's about experiencing Lake Chelan and having fun on the bikes."
A few riders we caught up with, loved their experience.
"Getting on the bike kind of made me feel like a kid again," said Olivia Plew. "But now that I'm older I can ride the bike and I get to taste wine!"
"If you're going to come to a valley like this you should explore two of the best things to offer, which are the views and the wine," said rider Natalie Gilsoul. "It's kind of the full package deal."
Tours take place all summer long and can cost between $70 and $180 per person.
