SEATTLE — It is indeed fit for a queen...Queen Anne to be exact. One of Seattle's original mansions is on the market.
The Gibbs House gazes at South Lake Union, the city below, all the way over to Alki from its perch on Queen Anne's south slope.
"Where it's situated is mainly its greatest feature," says Windermere's Patrick Chinn.
And nowhere is that more apparent than from the deck off the master.
"I think that's the best deck in the city," Chinn says.
It includes a fireplace and room enough for a table and four chairs to bask in the sights below.
"A front row seat to all the growth of downtown," says Chinn.
Elegant sitting rooms frame the house on either end. Posh powder rooms abound. There's a walk-in closet off the master bath which is so massive, it might as well be called a "live-in" closet.
There are modern amenities like a sports court and a pool with a view. A cabana next to the pool includes a kitchen, room for dining and a changing area.
Finished in 1933, it is known as the Gibbs House because of its original owner.
"James Gibbs...was a city planner in the twenties and saw the Rhodes mansion on 10th and basically said, 'I want that,'" Chinn says.
James got his wish. Now eight-plus decades later, his mansion is still a Seattle stunner that can wow the crowds without being pretentious.
"They had weddings here, huge parties. And also had two-person movie nights. And it can live like that."
The Gibbs House could be your house for $9,288,000.
