LOS ANGELES — From jaw-dropping acts to heartwarming stories, NBC’s "America’s Got Talent" has become the showcase for showing off people's amazing skills. And host Terry Crews is here for them all.
"This is my sixth season and every time you do it, it's like a brand-new iteration. You know what I'm saying? That's for me. I'm telling you I'm learning as I go, and I love, love the show. This is my dream job," Crews said to Evening.
Like previous years, Season 19 promises to be packed with incredible acts. But Crews says there is one big change.
"All the judges used to have one Golden Buzzer," he said. "The new thing that we're doing right now is each one of the judges, not me, I still have one golden buzzer, but the judges now have two golden buzzers."
So, what does Terry Crews look for when pressing his golden buzzer?
"I'm looking for two things, and it has to be both: a brilliant amazing story, and the talent," he said. "You can have the talent and the story is 'this guy should have been here?', or you can have a story that's incredible, oh my god, and the talents like meh. If you have both of those things, oh my goodness, I'm right there, bam, the buzzers getting hit."
Even though this is Crews' sixth season as the host of "America’s Got Talent," he's always surprised about what walks out on stage.
"Every year I'm always shocked. Because I think I've seen it all. You think you've heard it all. You know, there's one iteration of, 'I Will Always Love You' by Dolly Parton, and then Whitney Houston does, 'I Will Always Love You,' and all of a sudden, it's like, 'wow!,'" Crews said. "Every time someone gives a bit of themselves you create a whole new thing. This is why Season 19, for me, it feels like just the beginning."
Season 19 of America’s Got Talent premieres on May 28.
