One-on-one with comedian Iliza Shlesinger from her home

Her new sketch show is now streaming on Netflix.

SEATTLE — Looking for a new streaming show to binge-watch?

Comedian Iliza Shlesinger just debuted a new comedy sketch show on Netflix.

Entertainment reporter Kim Holcomb talked to her via Zoom, from the comfort of their own houses.

HOLCOMB: "Welcome to my home, this is so weird.”

SHLESINGER: “You look great, you look like you're ready for work.”

HOLCOMB: “Can I tell you I am wearing pajama pants under this?”

SHLESINGER: “Can I tell you I'm not wearing any pants?"

HOLCOMB: "You have spent a lot of time here in Seattle - you were just here last year, right, and we are hoping you'll be back in October?”

SHLESINGER: “I love Seattle, I've been playing there forever. I've been watching my tour dates one by one get rescheduled, so I hope to be back. If you have a ticket for it, hold on to that ticket! It wasn't until my stand-up got taken away from me by the coronavirus that - of course it's a huge part of my life but it's a part of my soul and I think doing different types of projects each feed a different part of you creatively, so there are things you can convey in stand-up that you can't in sketch. Sketch is all about showing, stand-up is about telling, so it's nice to have both outlets."

HOLCOMB: "Let's talk about this sketch show since it's brand new. What can people expect from it?”

SHLESINGER: “They can expect a good time, we have a lot of irreverent characters. This is not a heavy-handed show. Our whole show is making fun of other TV shows and other types of TV. It's a dash of social commentary, a dash of whimsy and a bunch of original characters. And it's crazy, and it's fun, and it's fast."

HOLCOMB: "Can we overstate how important entertainment or comedy really is to all of us right now?"

SHLESINGER: "People need an escape, they need to remember we will get through this, but we need comedy and entertainment to help us escape the every day and whatever you're going through. Some of us have it worse than others and perspective is important."

The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show is six episodes, each lasting for about 20 minutes. It’s now streaming on Netflix.
