SEATTLE — "There's, like, a new car smell," says New Day Northwest host Margaret Larson.

She's giving us a tour of the newly redesigned SoDo studio, built by the local creative design firm, Dillon Works.

"We want New Day to be a welcome space, positive space, informative, local," she says. "And we were just a little too tight. So this is gonna kind of open it up and do some new things."

The set features a new video backdrop, brighter colors, the show's first permanent in-studio kitchen, and a spacious performance area.

"So now there's this big space for bigger bands," Larson says. "Or if there's dancers or other things that we might not have been able to do in the old studio, we can do that stuff now. So we're very excited about that."

The new set was foreshadowed in recently aired promos, featuring a sledgehammer-wielding Larson destroying the old studio backdrop.

"That was so cathartic," Larson says. "We're ready for a brand spankin' new thing here."
