Meet the Band — Bexley

This high-energy alternative rock band brings the raw and passionate sound you are craving. #k5evening

SEATTLE — Bexley is an alt-rock band based in LA/Seattle. Their music emits a wall of sound layered with harmonic and powerful vocals, creating a sound that is distinctly their own.

The duo consists of Amanda Hardy, a bass player, singer and songwriter, and her husband, Steve Costello, a guitar player. Their unique sound is living proof that ROCK is still alive.

Evening‘s Jose Cedeno met the duo at their Central Saloon performance this past summer, during Season Ten of the music show “Band in Seattle.”

Cedeno: Most of the bands have at least three members, so why two?

Costello: We have a drummer as well.

Cedeno: Did you fire the drummer?

Costello: Yes.

Obviously, his answer was a joke; they really do have a drummer for performances.

Cedeno: Can you tell me a little bit about the band's name and why you guys came up with that name?

Hardy: My dad's side of the family grew up in Bexley, England. We were visiting some family while we were there for work, and we saw it on a dumpster, and we thought, "That’s it.”

Cedeno: What’s the feedback you guys are getting from the fans?

Costello: Everybody seems really happy. Whenever we get a crowd that doesn’t know who we are; we usually can win them over, which is pretty cool.

The band's debut self-titled album, “Bexley,” received excellent reviews for its sound and powerful vocals.

Cedeno: There is a little mention of you guys in Forbes magazine, but that is not necessarily where you go if you want to find out about rock music.

Hardy: We ended up playing Austin City Limits “ACL Festival” a couple of years ago, and it was a really cool experience. A person from Forbes was there, saw us play, and wrote an article about us.

Since then, Bexley has been working on new music, like their single “Bite My Tongue.”

Hardy: We do everything ourselves: write, record, produce, everything ourselves.

It is a local band dedicated to their craft, and it is worth checking out.
