EVERETT, Wash. — Eric Haines is a musician, comedian and entertainer. However, most people know him as the One Man Band -- entertaining people by playing several instruments at the same time. Usually, Eric performs at schools, corporate events and fairs -- but since Washingtonians have been ordered to stay-at-home, he's performing for a different audience.
"I was inspired by the stories that I saw where the Italians were singing to each other across balconies, but we don't have balconies here. It's something to draw everybody together and destress."
He compared his performances to another nostalgic experience.
"In the old days, you'd hear the ice cream truck coming down the road and all the kids would come out of their house. That's a strong memory, and I hope that I could supply some similar type of experience."
"There's something about a live performance that is key to engaging with people. Once I do that, they can see that I am indeed a ridiculous figure- and that gives them a chance to have a chuckle and go on their day with a little better mood."
Despite the fact that this is a difficult time for us all, Eric leaves us with one important message: "Just be kind to each other, be patient. We'll be fine."
