On May 7, 1915 a torpedo fired by a German U Boat sunk what was considered the world's greatest ocean liner, The Lusitania. More than a thousand people on board died including 128 Americans.
In "Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania", Seattle best selling-author Erik Larson writes about the people both on board the ocean liner and the German sub, as well as the events surrounding the sinking.
"Many people believed the Lusitania was sunk and the next day we were in the war," Larson says. "Not true".
In fact, such was President Woodrow Wilson's determination to keep the US neutral, it was nearly two years later before the US declared war on Germany.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania, Larson had been live-tweeting the final voyage of the ship.
