A colorful celebration of the Seattle music scene

SEATTLE — From Mudhoney to Mother Love Bone, grunge rockers aren't known for coloring inside the lines.

"Influencers, pioneers," said West Seattle artist Bradi Jones.

As a tribute to the sound of Seattle, Jones says grab a crayon and let it rock.

"It's a celebration of the scene," she explained. "It is for the misfits and the people that like to color outside the lines."

Jones is the creator of "Color Me I'm Sick," a coloring and activity book that'll have you waxing nostalgic for the '90s while scribbling to the beat of your favorite band.

"I learned so much when doing this book that I didn't know about the grunge scene," Jones said.

You can explore some colorful history while coloring history.

"The icons, the musicians," Jones said.

It's not the first time this graphic artist has walked down rock 'n' roll's memory lane. Her first book, "Look What the Cat Colored In," explored the full spectrum of '80s hair metal. It quickly sold out on Amazon.

"I hyped it pretty good," she said.

The book was so well-loved that it wasn't very well-used.

"People were coming up to me going, 'I don't wanna touch it. I want it to just be pristine.' And I'm like, 'I didn't work seven years on this thing for you to leave it on the shelf,'" Jones said. "Please, scribble all over it. Color it. Make it your own. Because that's what I made it for."

The graphic designer's books combine her two biggest loves – art and music. In fact, she's a rocker, herself, as the lead singer of the Black Bangs, an '80s cover band.

"Music has been really important to me all my life," Jones said.

If you love music as much as Bradi Jones, and you have a knack for coloring outside the lines, this rocker has just the book for you.

"A little bit of rebellion doesn't hurt anybody," she said.

"Color Me I'm Sick" is available at Easy Street Records, 4559 California Ave SW, Seattle.
