MUKILTEO, Wash. – The Future of Flight Aviation Center is 25 miles north of Seattle – a great staycation option for families.
"A lot of people who live here really don't realize it's in their own backyard,” said Sandy Ward, Marketing Director for Future of Flight.
Located at Paine Field, the Aviation Center is the entrance and exit for the Boeing Tour and houses an aerospace gallery with interactive exhibits for kids of all ages.
One portion features paper airplane instructions, pieces of colorful paper, and targets to fly through.
"’Fly paper’ was invented by some Boeing engineers who said that paper airplanes and art might go together, so they are beautiful!” Ward said.
There's also a way to feel like you're flying, inside a flight simulator called the “Innovator.”
For those who also appreciate ground transportation, there’s a Lamborghini Aventador on display.
"The inside of the driver's compartment was made the same way as the 787 Dreamliner, all in one piece,” Ward said.
There’s also a Boeing Centennial exhibit, a 727 cockpit, and a 777 engine.
The space is also available for gatherings, like weddings and holiday parties.
The Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
For families wanting to make a weekend of exploring Paine Field, there are several hotels nearby.
