SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. — At Snoqualmie Pass, skis aren't the only way to get down the hill.
"We're here at the Summit of Snoqualmie's Tubing Park. We've been open here for 20-plus years," said Karter Riach with The Summit at Snoqualmie. "It's easy. It's a great winter thrill. And almost anyone can do it from young kids to seniors. It's a good time for everyone."
With no skills or special equipment needed, tubing is an easier and less expensive way to play in the snow.
"The Summit Tubing Park has anywhere between four and 20 plus lanes, depending on how much snow we have. 40 feet of vertical and 500 plus feet of tubing," said Riach. "The beauty of the tubing park is it's a thrill for almost anyone. All ages are going to have a good time. You get going pretty fast by the time we're at the bottom."
How you get to the bottom is up to you, and gravity.
“Kids under the height of 44 inches, must ride with an adult. Everyone else, you've got options. You can sit in the tube, you can go head first, you can go for a spin. It's up to you," said Riach. "Our tubes are specially made for us here at the summit."
"They're super easy to ride. They fit in our lanes perfectly and keep you going where you need to go down the hill."
To get back to the top you can either get your steps in and walk, or wait to ride the magic carpet.
"The covered magic carpet is great. People love it. It makes it really easy, especially for kids to get back to the top easy for parents as well. Because you don't have to tell your kid they can hop in behind you or in front of you and get to the top super fast," said Riach. "There's anywhere between one and six sessions depending on the day of the week. We split everything up. You've got an hour and 45 minutes per session. And each ticket comes with access to that session plus a tube."
No skis, no problem. The Summit at Snoqualmie's Tubing Park is laid laid-back way to spend the day.
"It's a great way to get out in the snow and have fun."
The Summit Tubing Park is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday plus holidays.
